The Waltham Chamber of Commerce is a private non-profit\, independent organization of businesses and professionals dedicated to promoting sound economic growth and opportunity for its membership and a strong quality of life for the community through leadership\, education\, information and advocacy. \n\n \nThese past few years have been exceptionally difficult for everyone. Although\, things are starting to look up\, businesses are still struggling.\n\n\n\nOur members have mentioned that the biggest struggles that they have involves labor. Labor shortages! Labor Laws! Labor needs! Unemployment! We are excited to announce that our Annual Business Meeting keynote speaker this year is Secretary Rosalin Acosta. \n\n\n\nRosalin Acosta is the Secretary of Labor and Workforce Development for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. In her role\, Secretary Acosta manages the Commonwealth's workforce development and labor departments to ensure that workers\, employers\, and the unemployed have the tools\, training\, and safety resources needed to succeed in the Massachusetts economy. Secretary Acosta also Chairs the Workforce Skills Cabinet alongside the Secretary of Education and the Secretary of Housing and Economic Development.\n\nPrior to joining the Baker-Polito Administration\, she was a widely respected financial and banking service professional with over thirty years of experience in Greater Boston financial institutions. Secretary Acosta was a Director and Planning Committee Member of the Merrimack Valley Workforce Investment Board and was appointed a Northern Essex Community College Trustee by Governor Baker. She has been named one of Boston's Most Influential Women by the Women of Harvard Club and El Planeta's Top 100 Most Influential Hispanics in Massachusetts. She has also been awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Association for Latino Professionals for America (ALPFA). Born in Cuba\, she earned a Bachelor of Arts from Wesleyan University in Connecticut where she was a member of the Women's Varsity Ice Hockey Team. She is the proud mother of five children. Glenna has been selling real estate full time in Waltham since 1986. During that time Gelineau & Associates R.E. has grown into a very successful Real Estate company with a very accomplished award-winning team. Gelineau & Associates R.E. is Waltham's leading independent real estate office for sales and service.\n\nGlenna is very established in the fabric of Waltham. She is a 20+ year member of The Waltham Zoning Board of Appeals. She is involved in several nonprofit enterprises. She is President of The Parmenter Home of Waltham for women. She is on the board of directors for The Salvation Army\, The Leland Home\, The Waltham Rotary Club of Waltham and many other nonprofit organizations.\n\nGlenna is a lifelong resident of Waltham and endeavors to always give back to the community.
