History of Watchmaking in Waltham

A brief survey of the watches and the people at Waltham Watch over 100+ years starting with The Boston Watch Company and ending with Waltham Precision Instrument company. Chris Carey and his wife Christine own and operate Watertown Watch and Clock, now located on Trapelo Rd in Waltham, Massachusetts. Chris honed his watch making skills with his grandfather, Pasquale Caruso, who worked at Waltham Watch Company starting in 1927 as the Waltham Watch Company and retired in 1974 from what was later known as Waltham Precision Instrument Company. Chris worked with his grandfather throughout high school and college, he attended Berkleee College of Music, and when Chris graduated from college in 1993, he opened Watertown Watch and Clock in Watertown Square. Chris is currently the President of the Massachusetts Watchmakers-Clockmakers Association, he is the Past President of the New England Chapter 8 of the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors, and he serves as a Director on the Board of The American Watchmakers Clockmakers Institute. Chris has two boys who are sick of hearing him talk about watches and clocks so he is happy whenever he can find others interested in horology. Contact information is available upon request.
