Membership Recruitment Specialist at GSEMA
Position Summary:
The Membership Recruitment Specialist is a results-driven, sales-oriented professional that is responsible with executing membership recruiting and conversion strategies to increase girl and adult memberships within an assigned region of eastern Massachusetts. This role develops prospects and leads that results in memberships by working within the community to build visibility and promoting the benefits of Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts (GSEMA). The location for this role is the MetroWest region area of Boston.
Key Responsibilities:
• Design and implement a comprehensive plan for new girl and adult membership growth in targeted areas by researching market data membership trends, and other pertinent information.
• Schedule, promote, and deliver 8-14 events per month that provide a sample Girl Scout experience and information to caregivers within an assigned geographic area using marketing and sales tactics, including social media.
• Nurture leads from in-person events and digital campaigns by communicating effectively in writing, by phone, and in person to sell the Girl Scout experience.
• Recruit adult volunteers to key leadership positions within a troop.
• Utilize Volunteer Systems (Salesforce) to consistently document member and lead communications.
• Collaborate with cross-functional team and local volunteers to ensure the effective delivery of recruitment strategies and logistics.
• Develop relationships with schools, faith-based organizations and community-based organizations.
• Conduct troop formation meetings and facilitate starter troops as needed to convert new members.
• Ensure Girl Scouting is open to all girls and adults by delivering the Girl Scout message of pluralism and diversity to members of the council.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications:
• Associate’s degree highly preferred.
• 1 year of work experience in membership sales, community organizing, sales, or other relevant/transferable experience required.
• It is required to be able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends, and be willing to travel throughout the council. The location for this role is the MetroWest region area of Boston. You create your own 37.5 hour weekly schedule based on what yields the best results/increase of memberships with supervisors approval.
• Self-starter who can work independently and as part of a team, and take initiative; is flexible, adaptable, organized, and has strong attention to detail.
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software; adept at utilizing social networking; experience using Salesforce or demonstrated ability to learn and become proficient with new technology is required.
• Familiarity with digital marketing promotions online groups and pages, parenting blogs, and event calendars.
• Able to communicate clearly orally and in writing is a requirement as this role presents to all size groups formally and informally.
• Strong public relations skills and ability to develop community collaborations; able to relate well to both adults and children.
• Ability to effectively identify, analyze and solve practical problems and successfully manage a variety of variables and personalities; ability to adapt in a changing environment.
• Requires transporting supplies to a variety of partners; ability to lift and manipulate up to 15 pounds.
• Bilingual skill (English and Spanish or Portuguese) is highly desirable.

• Maintain confidentiality on behalf of the Girl Scout organization and in accordance with the GSEMA Comprehensive Information Security Program (CISP).
• Staff “All Hands-on Deck” (AHOD) events as needed (some evenings and weekends required).
Work Environment: Mobilized / hybrid work arrangement with work from home, at designated GSEMA service centers, in communities served, and at designated GSEMA properties as needed.
Physical Demands:
• Ability to lift and manipulate up to 15 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• May involve prolonged periods of sitting or working on a computer.
Travel Requirements:
Travel 90% within a designated region and 10% outside the region. The location for this role is the MetroWest region area of Boston. Must have access to reliable transportation to travel to GSEMA offices/service centers and across the Council footprint multiples times per week. Possession of a valid driver’s license and access to motor vehicle is required.
